Somebody LIED!!!!
June 8 2021
For our last night in Pacific City it was SO WINDY that we had to bring in the slide so we could sleep, the slide has a slide topper on it and it was flapping and making such a racket that we brought the slide in to quieten it down. Of course about 30 minutes after we brought in the slide the wind died down to nothing.
For several reasons, one being the beaches are getting crowded, we have decided to head inland so yesterday we moved to Milo Mclver State Park, it was one of the few places, with in driving distance to Mount Hood, that had any spots open.
June 9th
Today we headed for Mount Hood of course. What we typically do is head for the furtherest destination point and explore places or roads on the right as we head there and check out places again on the right for the return trip.
Anyway the furthest destination today was Tamanawas Falls even leaving early because of all the side trips and stops it was about 11:45 when we headed out. I was already thinking I could eat now but the information at the trail head said it was a 1 mile hike each way. So off we go with 1 bottle of water, between us, and no snacks of any kind. After a mile there is another sign that says the falls are still 1.5 miles further.
It was an easy to moderate hike with the only real challenge, was the trail created by bigfoot who came along and caused a rock slide so now you need to scramble over some rocks toward the end of the trail.
Long story short, according to Mary’s app thingy we did right at a5 mile loop (they lied on distance).
For the return trip Mount Hood was now on our right, it was cloudy with an off and on a light misty rain so we never did see the top. All the roads going up were gated closed, the 1 road we did find was covered in snow and no tire tracks so we headed home, by passing a couple more falls hikes that were a mile or more hikes, after the unexpected 5 mile hike we were on the tired side, so we headed home.
A few pictures from the hike.
Other pictures from the drive.
