And then we heard a BIG bang
7/3/2018
Well ok, it was just someone setting off fireworks.
Now on with the rest of the story, but first notifications are not working correctly so there is a new story below this one.
July 3 2018
With perfect weather, the evening started with a turn south from the CG for our 3rd visit to the water ski show. Where, during intermission, a 5 year old girl, who is in the training class, took off from the dock along with 2 others a few years older than her. She dropped one ski 10 ft from the dock and proceed to to take her turn around the lake on one ski, then letting go of the rope just in time manages to ski up to shore stopping in about a foot of water…….. I think she will be showing all of them up in a couple of more years.
They offer skiing lesson’s during the summer to kids, that little girl is obviously taking full advantage of the lessons.
From the ski show it was north past the CG towards the airport for the fireworks show. The sign at the airport said the gates open at 5:00, the fireworks started at 10:15.
Earlier in the day we made sure we knew how to get to the airport but just as we passed the CG cars were lining up on both sides of the road. We didn’t bother with riding all the way around to the airport entrance. We lucked into a spot just in front of the end of the runway. Unknowingly to us at the time, what a good spot it turned out to be.
We ended up being isolated between a black Porsche SUV, driven by a lady who didn’t have the first clue how to parallel park and the bike. Once darkness fell and the show started we felt as if the show was being out on just for our enjoyment.
There was one almost incident as we were getting our jackets on this truck trying to turn around in the middle of the road in the middle of about a zillion cars almost backed up into the bike despite my yelled warnings.
As we were leaving not 1 but 2 ambulances left the runway, lights and sirens going, we sure hope they weren’t for anyone working and setting off the fireworks. The finally was excellent but afterwards a few random rockets went off. The next morning noting was mentioned on the local TV news about any injuries.
