4 states in 3 days
South Dakota – Wyoming – Montana – Idaho
5/8/2021 Wasta, SD. The town is so small that even if you don’t blink you may still miss it.
We left the small mostly deserted self pay RV park around 7:08 being on Mountain Time and accustomed to waking up early on eastern time has us waking up and ready to roll early, so we did. We’re still around 1300 miles from the Pacific Coast—— A long way to go and a short time to get there.
5/10/2021 We ended up doing 412 miles today all expressway, we also saw some snow still hanging on the mountain sides, it was cloudy just a few feet above the snow so I have no idea how tall the mountains are or how much snow is really there.
On a side note Marys legs are still stiff from climbing the ladder.

Spent the night in a Cabelas parking last night, pulled out bright and early again. This morning we passed more snow covered mountains, looking spectacular with the bright sun reflecting off their snow covered peaks. Lots of mountain passes today, including crossing the Continental Divide at an elevation of 6396 ft. Curves did I mention the curves? Going downhill doing 110 and relying to make a 45 MPH curve, the roads so steep it felt like the backend was going to start cartwheeling end over end.
Another 348 miles to Missoula MT – stayed at Jim & Mary’s RV, the same place we stayed the last time we were in the area. Laundry, post office, and groceries.
5/12/2021 We only did about 120 miles today, I have an adventure in mind for tomorrow. By having a short drive today we checked out the Crystal Gold Mine. It has an interesting history. From what the owners could tell a claim was never filed on the mine so there are no records of who did the mining or when or what happened to them. Older mines used wooden rails for ore carts this one had steel tracks and an old water pump was found at the end from around the late 1870’s to mid 1880’s. intentionally or naturally the entrance was covered up and not rediscovered until the mid 1990’s.
