Indiana – Illinois – Iowa – South Dakota

They all start with a letter I

Indian Illinois Iowa. That’s the states we were in today.

Shortly after arriving in Indiana in the first part of April we were able to get the J&J vaccine shot. Now with last Mary’s routine ultrasound this morning, that was the last item on the checklist we’re finally able to hit the road.

So around 11:50 we pulled out from Mary’s moms, jumped on I-65 and headed north for our much anticipated spring/summer travel.

In Indianapolis we jumped on I-74 headed west, around 3:30 Indiana was in the rear view mirror.

Along the way I-74 does a few north then west turns, so tonight we’re almost as far north as Chicago but we’re in the eastern edge of Iowa.

After driving 429 Miles, we’re spending the night in a casino parking lot, the same one we stayed in last year and had our first tire trouble. I sure hope we don’t have a repeat of last year.

Iowa ain’t flat. Much of today’s drive was on highway 20 much of that was up and down these rolling hills as we went from the east side to the west, then further north to South Dakota. Hwy 20 while 4 lanes, it’s pretty desolate with no rest areas and few gas stations.

We’ll be slowing down some now as we head further west, but today was another 431 miles to get to Sioux Falls SD where we landed to start the adventure again.  Hope all are staying safe and got your shots.
