Arkansas Post National Memorial
The Big Thaw.
We survived the big freeze. This area was pretty much shut down for several days due to thick ice on the roads, loss of power and frozen water pipes, not just in houses but main water lines. I was told that the water company that supplies water to Rocky Point CG had 10 of their 14 wells were out of commission.
One day we had 2 degrees above zero, 7 days later it was 70+ and we were setting out side in short sleeves (sometimes) plying dominos and watching the squirrels.
Somewhere in there we had around 5 inches of rain also.
3/10/2021 finds us camped out on the Arkansa River. We’re backed in to a spot looking out on the river so we can watch the barges go by.
Also, just few minutes ago they tied off some barges with some ropes or cables just a stones throw from our camp spot. I watched as a guy on the barge tossed a rope with a treble hook catching a large rope or cable attached to shore then the tug disconnected and pushed them closer to shore. Right now they are just siting there with the tug up towards the front.
I don’t know what they were doing at the front go the barge but now they are reconnecting.
Earlier today we took a short drive over to Arkansas Post National Memorial. There’s not much here now, but it started life as a trading post back in 1686 by a French trapper. It has changed hands and countries numerous times over the years and was the site of a big battle durning the civil war.
Between the Core of Engineers, time and erosion the site of the civil war the fort is now eroded away or is under water.
While we were walking Mary about stepped on this lil guy. I told him that it was a good thing it was us and not Bigfoot that found him because Bigfoot would have held him up by his tail and slid him down his throat as a snack.
They had some viewing things to look for Bigfoot, I looked and looked but I didn’t see any.
I found this out in the woods I think someone was using it to hunt Bigfoot, but Bigfoot got the better of the hunter.
There were also lots of downed trees, some might blame the wind, but me, I know what happened, a couple of Bigfoot had a contest to see who could push over the most trees in 5 minutes.
Some random pictures.

Rex, your stories and pics continue to amuse and inspire me. I love reading about your big foot hunt so please keep looking…. I just KNOW you will spot one soon. Just make sure YOU spot him and not the other way around…. Glad you saved the snake, even though I have a healthy dislike for them, that’s one snack big foot didn’t get yet….lol. Keep the stories coming and one day gather them all up and have them published in a book for the world to enjoy. Safe travels my friends and stay safe.
