I ain’t seen the SUNSHINE since I don’t know when

And I’m not sure we’ll ever see it again, its sure has been cold and gloomy lately.

What happened to the sun? The last sunset picture, in the last post, was the last time we have seen the sun, I’m not sure, but I think someone may have stolen it. And here in the FROZEN SOUTH we may have single digit temperatures for Monday night/Tuesday morning. BURRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!

They are also bouncing around different snow and ICE amounts, starting tomorrow, Sunday. I’v heard as much as 9 inches of snow. Personally I would prefer 32 degrees and 32 inches of snow vs the cold. We are expected to be several days of below freezing durning the day. Wind? Did I mention that the wind may be blowing also. UGH!!!!!

If we get some ice/freezing rain, it could mean downed power-lines and accidents, that’s something  I could do without too. Texas has already had a 100 car pile up that had, I think, 5 deaths in one accident.

We are scheduled to move on Wednesday but they have snow in the forecast for Wednesday and Thursday. I’m not sure what we’re going to do as we are scheduled to have something done to RUBY on Friday.

Well, now lets see, 8:30 PM, I just checked the NOAA website. According to the website on Sunday night  Monday, we’re under a Winter Storm Warning, a Hard Freeze Warning and a Wind Chill Advisory.  UGH it should be fun. NOT!!!

2/14/2021

We had a slight coating of ice, small ice balls earlier, as in mid morning. The real snow / Ice came after dark. We did break out the heavy coats that we almost didn’t keep and have only had on once since we retired. We also broke out a door cover thing that Mary made when we were stuck in Corydon IN, we hang the drape over the door and then fill the step well with stuff. The door is the weak link. We also lined the sides of the step well and the steps with reflectix, a installation of sorts. We also put reflectix in the windows, usually we would take it out durning the day to let light in but we’ll be leaving it in for the next few days.

2/15/2021

It got down to 15 last night, that’s the coldest night we have EVER had, unfortunately it’s going to get down even colder tonight, with a low of 5 predicted. Slap on a wind chill and well, you get the idea……. Road closures everywhere, including most of the expressways and they are asking people not to get out. They don’t really have any road cleaning equipment this far south.

They are also talking of bad roads over the next few days because of melting snow durning the days and refreezing as ice ruts.

I don’t know if they will be leaving today BUT there is a family staying in a couple of tents out by the lake, they have been here several days. They stayed last night.

Oh yea, the real winter perception event may not happen until Thursday. Snow, Ice, sleet who knows, I can say rain is not mentioned.

8:45AM, I walked out to the lake, in the 1° windchill, the guy, in short pants and boots, with a large family was cleaning off his car. I mentioned they came durning a cold time and he said that was the reason they came.  The tents must be well insulated because there was plenty of snow on the roofs.

A few random pics from before the big FREEZE, the Bigfoot viewing station was closed, that was ok because it was TO COLD to stay outside for more than a couple of minutes.
