We’re not in the Indy 500

We moved spots today, within the campground. We are expecting some of the coldest tempetures we’ve had since going full-time. BURRRRRRRR. We were backed up right on the lake and decided it might help some if we were further away from the water. Unfortunately, we couldn’t move very far from the water, all the 50 amp sites are closer to the water and we thought it best to be on 50 amp durning this, frozen south, cold snap. We’re also level now, something we could not accomplish in the site next to the lake.

Mary said she wanted to drive to the new spot, the campground is mostly empty, sounded like a good idea to me…….. at the time.

I didn’t know RUBY could go so fast! First the tires were spinning and smoking, the front wheels were off the ground about 5ft, while leaving the spot, then we were sliding around corners, I’m pretty sure on a lot of the curves we were up on 2 wheels, the other curves we were drifting sideways.

She drove around the park a few times with the camp staff lined up along the road, cheering her on as we whizzed by at near the speed of sound, hats were blown off heads and trash was sucked up out of the ditches, trees were bent over almost double.

There are a couple of crossroads here in the park, just big enough for Mary to cut a few doughnuts in.

She was using the speed bumps like ramps, jumping from one speed bump to the next, ole Evil Knievel, Mario Andretti or the Dukes of Hazzard don’t have anything Mary.

We may need to leave here and stop at the nearest tire dealer.

That’s how I remember things going today.

You couldn’t see the sun last night so no sunset pictures and at 10:30 this morning you can see to the lake beyond that It’s a wall of fog with a light mist in the air. I have my fire going anyway, if I don’t burn my wood today I probably won’t to get to burn it before we need to move. Unless I want to set out in the COLD!!

I sat around my smoldering fire most of today, wet oak wood just doesn’t burn very well, along about 4:00 the fog and mist set in so I abandoned the fire. 

I was thinking earlier, no I didn’t even set off the smoke decetor from thinking so hard, anyway I have some pecans, I thought with the cold snap the squirrels might appreciate the unexpected cash of nuts.

I tossed out a few as I was huddled near the fire, when this Blue Jay swooped down and made off with one.  A few minutes later he was back for another and another. Before to long there were 4 Jays flying around each trying to run off the other 3. 

Hoping they would hang around instead of just swooping down and making off with a nut I cracked a few, they still didn’t hang around to long but this little guy appreciated them being cracked open.

No squirrels made an appearance while I was out there. Did I mention that the weather gurus missed again it never reached the expected high and the temps started slowly falling about noon.
