Pinto Canyon Road again
1/14/2021
After being mostly idle for a few days due to cooler temperatures and some wind we decided it was time to get back out so off we went to Pinto Canyon Road again.
Before taking the Pinto Canyon Road, we went on past Ridosio up to the town of Candelaria and the end of the pavement. The unmaintained gravel road continued on with several warnings. Not knowing where it went and being by ourselves and with zero cell service we turned around.
Before getting on Pinto Canyon RD we thought we would check out Chinati Hot Springs, It has come and gone through several owners over the years. In the not to distance past it was abandoned and free to soak in now it’s back as a business under new owners. With reservations and some $$ you can go for a soak. They also offering tent camping and cabin rentals. However due to Covid it’s only open for reservation soaking, the camping and cabins are closed, the same with walk ups, not allowed.
Turning around we took a small connecting road to Pinto Canyon Rd. Having driven north once already we didn’t stop to much. This time we only went to the top of the last mountain and turned around. Going back south was new so we took our time.
This will probably be the last post for a while, we’re scheduled to leave here Monday and so far no plans have been made only a direction, east. Mary and I both have a Dr. appointment on the same day in February. I think we’re going to try get within a days drive, rent a car and drive to Louisville, stay in a hotel and drive back the day after the appointments.
We probably would have left already except there was a snafu with our mail. We had it shipped general delivery the local post office, according to the website they accept general delivery, but they don’t really, so it was sent right back………….GRRRRRR!!!!! Once it was back in South Dakota we had to have it reshipped to a post office box the RV park has set up.
The End
