Planes planes and more planes
Ok, so I think I mentioned in my last post about moving in the rain!!!! Blasted weather people!!!!
We moved about 114 miles and abandoned the idea of following the Trace any more. A.) Because of unforeseen circumstances we’re well behind the best of the fall colors. B.) We need to get well away from the Trace to find campgrounds. C.) While almost no traffic it’s narrow and winding with a very soft shoulder.
We’re now just out side of Columbus Mississippi again on the Tenn-Tom Waterway, Dewayne Hayes Core of Engineers Campground.
The online map shows this spot to be right on the water and it is more or less but there is just enough trees and brush along the bank that we can’t get a clear view of the water. Oh well the spot is big and flat and the weather is superb once the rain moved out. Temps in the low 70’s, until Sunday when another small cold front, with a little rain, is going to move through, We’ll see if the talking heads get it right this time. Once the front moves through we are supposed to be in the mid to high 60’s and sunny.
So about the planes, We’re very near the Columbus Air Force Base(?). Just a guess but it must be where they first train pilots, in prop planes, before they move to jets, they are hard to spot in the sky but they you sure can be heard!!!!! That would be my only negative comment about this campground. Seems like they take off turn around and land, many times with several in the air at one time. At least they don’t fly at night or on the weekends.
They also have a nice Concrete walkway through the woods here , not only do the Camp Host keep the sites as free of of levels as best they can they also blew the leaves off the mile long walkway.
Speaking of leaves, they must really not like leaves down this way, not only do the Camp Host blow the levels from camp sites and roads, several of the campers brought their own leaf blowers and blowed the few leaves off their sites.

Today was friggin idiot day at the laundry mat. Of the people going in and out beside Mary and I only a couple of others had mask on. I guess it’s a good thing theirs not a GLOBAL PANDEMIC going on. IDIOTS!!! Counting to 100 and calming down now. NOT!!!! PEOPLE there are other stations to watch other than Fox News, the lying, propaganda spreading, news station. January 20th can’t get here soon enough for me.
The first time we went to this laundry mat everyone had on a mask. Since we’re going to move to a more remote site for 2 weeks we decided to get caught up before we leave here.
The End
