Say what? 90 degrees today!!!
9/13/2020
Just the other day I was freezing, now I’m baking. UGH!!! I knew it was going to be warm but we needed to start the easterly migration towards So. Indiana so we couldn’t hang out in the coolness of the mountains.
We moved around 84 miles this morning to the town of Bayard. They have a small 3 site city campground, first 2 nights free and that’s how long we plan to stay while we explore the area and read about the important history of the area. Because of the blast furnace heat that’s in the forecast we may hang out here for another day and run the A/C, don’t know what we’re going to do yet. That’s just an option we’re considering.
On the way up we stopped at a Historical Marker and rolled the window down to read the marker and the place must have been a fly hot spot and now we have several to track down and putout of our misery. BTW it’s 90 degrees at 4:00 UGH grumble grumble grumble.
On the way here we drove by Jailhouse Rock and Courthouse Rock. We didn’t stop, all it is, is a marker pointing them out and no place to get off the road with the motorhome. This aint Wyoming.
Once we got set up we went to Chimney Rock, there are no trails to walk and we didn’t really want to go inside to the museum because of the Covid-19 thing. Looks like there must be some rattlesnakes in the area The signs were posted at the museum.
So, we took a drive up to Carhenge. We were going to stop there when we leave here but now we can take a different route.
The End

Ok… Couple of comments and questions here… 1. Do the rattlesnakes read the signs and stay OFF the sidewalks? Lol…
2. What’s the point of the cars? Are the painted grey or are they concrete?
Just seems like a weird form of art to me but I’m sure there is a story behind it…
Lastly, the dino and fish bones exhibit, are those from car parts or something else?
As always, stay safe and enjoy the journey! Plus, keep up the posts please, especially with this Covid business going on I need a distraction from all that mess! Thanks!
You DO realize that I have slept since I wrote this but I’ll do my best to answer your questions, hopefully not to much information has leaked out. I’ve started sleeping with ear plugs in in an effort to keep to much stuff from leaking out.
If I ever see a rattlesnake I’ll ask him if he pays any attention to the signs.
Carhenge is just a play on Stonehenge. They are real cars painted to resemble the rocks of Stonehenge.
Yes, the Dino and fish are made of automobile parts, the fish was created by someone from BC Canada, if I’m remembering correctly (highly unlikely).
