When it rains it pours, in more ways than one
I can’t remember for sure but I think it’s rained, at least part of the day, for all but 2 days since we landed here in the FROZEN NORTH, of Southern Indiana. UGH!!!
3/27/2018
They say living in an RV there’s always something broken…… they don’t lie. The other night, it was dark and guess what it was raining, when we started smelling this very unpleasant odor. After sniffing around, I decided to go outside, in the very dark and rain, to have a look around. Well, best I could tell, did I mention it was dark and raining and that with the ground so saturates water was standing everywhere, it looks like one of our holding tanks sprang a leak.
We have a very large flat fresh water tank, with the holding tanks above that. HUM, probably not the best design. Anyway, one of the tanks sprung a leak and allowed a couple of cups of smelly water to pool on top of the water tank. I took a water hose and sprayed down as best as I could.
Then, by closing off the bedroom and using ceiling fans we were able to get rid of the oder and sleep ok, at first I thought we might not be able to stay in the coach that night.
Since we were scheduled to have some work done next month anyway, rather than mess around in the rain, I called Paul, the guy, in Walkrusa, IN to see if he could get us in early.
The next day 3/28 had the lowest chance of RAIN in both places so 230 miles north we go, drop off the coach and drive the Jeep back.
Ordinarily, we would stay in the coach or in a hotel for a day or two BUT he is full up, he has parking, with water and electric, for 4 coaches, those spots were all full, and 5 others parked around we were number 6.
We we could not have stayed anyway, my aunt Betty had passed away and I need to be down here for the funeral.
We packed some clothes, emptied the refrigerator, before we moved the coach north and are staying with Mary’s Mom for a few days.

It snowed AGAIN last night!!! We’re not getting to mark much off of the to do list. Between the snow, rain and COLD it’s hard to get anything done.

Finally a couple of nice days, if you like the wind. It was nice not to need to run any heaters in the morning!!! The cold UGH!!! Of course they do have the possibility go a few flurries a couple of days from now, but we’re finally able to do a couple of our planed projects.
We went looking for a new place to stay the next time we’re in town. They are raising the rates here to one of the most expensive we have stayed in….. I don’t think we’re going to stay here again, with the exception of location it has nothing!!!!!!!!
The problem is …….. there are no other parks around, so we may be staying up to an hour away………. looks like I need to practice backing up, all the other parks are back in, for more than a few days.
Like a lot of things I’m interested in Louisville is a large void and requires driving to other cities for the things I want. The Louisville area needs another RV park and it should have large updated sites.

The heavy expected rain never came today, no complaints here. It was NICE to get up and not needing the heaters. The sucky weather did let us binge on the newly released Netflix Orgional, Lost In Space. Someone really took a few liberties with the plot. Personally, I think it should have been called something else, that’s how far from the original it is. It could have stood on it’s own, they didn’t need to use the same title.

Well the good weather didn’t last long, they have flurries in the forecast for in the morning.
Also the rate increase for here may have been a false alarm. The numbers we were given are the same as they currently charge.
Recapping our stay
3 milestones – The good.
1 B day, 1 – 41st Anniversary doesn’t feel like that long, right at 1 year living in the motorhome, doesn’t feel like that long.
The bad
5 weeks of mostly cold, rainy, snowy, crappy weather!!!
Heard about 2 cases of cancer each with surgery.
Know of one person in and out of rehab and hospital. Last I heard she’s home now and doing much better.
Someone else was in the hospital for a couple of days.
Went to 3 funerals
When it rains it pours! That’s just what I can think of off the top of my head. Like I said when it rains it pours:(

Man Rex,
I was laughing out loud COMMISERATING!! with you one the weather.
I’ve have a new TREK bike since march 3 and I’ve been on it maybe 10-12 times.
Half of those in the last week. I hate Indiana bad! I don’t belong here.
So, to recap, we’ve have three whole good days this year. Last Monday & Tuesday and today. Keep on getting after it! Anyway, I’m planning to bikepack a long trip in July from Louisville to Ste. St. Marie with my brother. And survive.
Doug
p.s. I had a step-nephew commit suicide a week ago Saturday. Age 24, over a girl.
His grandma married my Dad in ’83. Devastating. Ugh on funeral homes!
