Backtracking
7/23/2020 Miles driven 225 Elevation 612
We pulled out of Germantown WI around 8:30 for our much delayed return to exploring. I was somewhat worried about rush hour traffic leaving that early in the morning with a few miles of town driving but, thankfully, that proved to be a non issue.
So far all is well with RUBY but I don’t consider ourselves out of the woods yet from the over heating issue.
Unfortunately, due to our extended stay in Germantown we won’t have much time to explore now because we need to be back in So. Indiana for a Dr appointment in early August, so we’re backtracking out route through Upper Michigan. But we’re staying in different cities/campgrounds.
7/25/2020 Today we drove about 50 miles up the coast to the town of Manistique there is a small lighthouse on a break water wall. To reach the concrete walk of breakwater, and walk out to the lighthouse, you had to first negotiate these very large rocks.
Mary backed out of walking out there because of the sand slick rocks, they were coated with a fine layer of sand that made footing kinda challenging. I continued on a little further but turned around because of the water slick rocks and spray splashing up from the waves. The rocks looked very unforgiving should one happen to slip and fall. If I dared the last 10 foot or so of the rocks the rest of the walk looked like it would have been mostly dry and there were people out there, some appeared to be fishing, but I don’t see how with wind and the waves crashing up and splashing against the water break.
Then we drove on up the coast to see the Seul Choix Point Lighthouse. Visually, to me this lighthouse ranks very high in it’s looks and design. Unfortunately the tower portion was closed, I’m not sure why but with the virus going around I was only mildly disappointed at not being able to climb it. And because the tower was closed we elected not to pay the admittance fee to venture into any of the other small buildings that were open.
We were gone longer than anticipated and didn’t take a lunch, Big Boy was out first choice but they didn’t have a drive up so we settled for Burger King and ate over looking the water. I really can’t see why anyone would risk their life just to sit in a restaurant and eat. Personally, I would not even consider sitting outside at a restaurant or coffee shop. Avoid as many people, and indoor spaces as much possible………… That’s my motto. The Pic of me with the mask was taken at the office here at the CG when we went in to buy some firewood.
We did find an albino bigfoot on the drive.

We were scheduled to leave today but it was raining when we got up, I’m glad we made the decision to stay another night yesterday.
Oh Oh I almost forgot
The end:)
