Finally we have reached —— hades?—- 91 degrees what’s this??
942 Elevation
152 miles due north and the high for the day is 91 hades hot degrees. UGH – UGH and double UGH!
The featured picture is of the street signs when leaving the RV park.
Fortunately pulling out of our overnight spot very early we were able to roll into our 30amp(grrrr) spot before the temps climbed to to unbearably hades HOT. They were going to make us sit in the parking lot until 3:00 check in, I was just going to fire up the generator and chill out….. but at the last second they let us move onto our spot. Normally we try to arrive around 12:30 or later but I could feel the hades heat scorching my neck already. This resort/ park is going to be full over the weekend— Mary snagged the very last spot. We decided to go ahead and stay a week. Since storms tonight and cooler weather the rest of the week.

The good news is I think my fever has finally gone away. For the past week to 10 days I have had a fever with chills and sweating. The fever kinda would come and go, once it reached 102, most of the times when I had a fever it was between 100 and 101. This is at least the 3rd day with no indications of a fever. BP was normal the entire time. We Had decided to stay here for a week just in case I didn’t get to feeling better and decided to go to an immediate care or the emergency room.
It was rainy and windy today, went for a short walk and got back just as it started to rain, it was a good thing to because I’m sure I would have melted away if it had started raining hard and I got wet:)

Today we drove up Leelanau Lighthouse, It’s a little west and north of Travers City. The lighthouse museum was closed of course. Michigan is just now starting to allow things to open back up. We may not have toured the inside of the light house anyway. We’re trying to avoid people and going inside buildings as much as we can. If a business looks semi busy we just pass going in. We also are trying really hard to get in the habit of using hand cleaner if we get out and touch something.
After filling up just out side Travse City we migrated north along the western edge of the peninsula to the lighthouse located at the tip, then came down the western edge. A little breezy but otherwise mostly sunshine, we drove through rolling hills some covered in forest other hills were covered in tall grass, wavering in the breeze and of course the occasional cherry orchard. And along the way were quaint little towns. The route eventually took us through part of Sleeping Bear Dunes but we didn’t explore much as that’s another trip. All told we used about 1/2 tank of gas.
The last stop of the day was in the town of Beulah For a small cherry pie. DELICIOUS!!!!

Nobody around when we left this morning now the spots on each side of us are full and they just keep coming in. BTW this is obviously a popular and well used …….. I foresee a LOT of kids here for the weekend. The park is in a pine forest, but has a good mix of hardwood trees also, our site is at the bottom of a small dip that seems to be popular with the kids on their bikes, scooters, roller-skates and all manor of wheeled contraptions, most kids traveling at speeds beyond their skill level.
6/12/2020 What a difference a day makes.
The frozen north came to us today. Low 43 last night and a high 57 and windy today, especially near the lake. Anyway, with double checking I had my trusty toboggan in the Jeep we took off for parts unknown. 61 miles south west later we were in Manistee MI and watching the waves break over the sea wall leading to the lighthouse.
We walked out there and I ALMOST got my shoes and socks wet. There was water washing over the walkway but it was no deeper than the soles of our shoes—- most of the time.
A few minutes later while walking along the river walk we watched a sail boat go through a lift bridge.

Then it was north to the town of Arcadia MI where we walked out on a nice wooden boardwalk over a marsh. Birds chirping, swans swimming and a COLD wind blowing. Note to self next time don’t forget your toboggan in the Jeep.
Then onward and northward to the Arcadia lookout, after walking about 2 1/2 miles earlier the steps looked intimidating but we tackled and conquered the steps, complete with toboggan this time.

A little further north to the town of Frankfort MI and another lighthouse located just outside of town then a quick drive through town and along the lake and it was time to pont the Jeep towards home with one last stop in mind.

Yup, another cherry pie. They closed at 3:00, 3:15 and they were still open, no warm pies left and closing as soon as the last call in order picked up her pies, but she sold me a frozen one with the direction on how to bake it.

Fabalous day yesterday, temps in the low 70’s brilliant blue sky, contrasting nicely with the green of the trees when looking up. Except for one short walk around the park we didn’t leave the site but did sit outside and watch all the RV’s pulling out. Also I was surprised at the number of new arrivals.
We figured everywhere we wanted to go would be crowded, so we just hung out in the campsite and in the evening had a small fire. One of our neighbors from earlier in the week left a bundle of firewood at our site when they left, we put it to good use last night….. thank you who ever you are, we didn’t get a chance to even nod to them in passing, they were only here for one night.

I came I saw I conquered—— it kicked my ass.
We hiked up the dune at Sleeping Bear Dunes this morning. From the parking lot, it doesn’t look that bad. Well now let me tell you by the time your about a 1/4 of the way up, breathing hard and trying to climb/walk in loose sand has your legs feel like jello. The dune has just explained to you just how out of shape you are. But you keep climbing. Nearing the top you think you’ve conquered the dune but the dune has some nasty surprises in store for you. You see when you reach what you think is the top, it’s depressing to see yet another climb in front of you, this one almost as tall as the one you just came up. Now more determined than every, you continue up only to discover yet another hill. Conquer that hill and your granted a view of Lake Michigan in the far distance. That’s where we turned around, neither one of us having the energy to continue. The temperature was mild and brilliant sunshine, had it been warmer it would been a much more challenge climb. As it was our only issues, besides being out of shape was we didn’t take any water with us. Like I said from the parking lot it looks like just the one climb——— easy peazy right? – WRONG.
She for got to set her app thingy until the well after we turned around, it said 3/4 mile so that makes it at a minimum of 1 mile and 1/2, actually much more because going up you slid down about 1/2 step for each one going up.
And the last stop of the day was of course another cherry pie:)
