The new windshield wipers
The new windshield wipers worked like a charm, I didn’t need to turn them on once, but dark angry clouds were chasing us as we crossed the Kansas/Missouri border. I kept watching the mirror expecting them to catch up at any minute but they didn’t. The weather alarm went off with a tornado warning for the county we just left.
It was still dark when we stopped for the night, and we thought it would rain before morning but the next day dawned bright and cloudless.
We try to drive in the mornings and stop before the hottest part of the day. One thing about driving east in the mornings, the sun can sure get bright and the sunshine can sure heat things up inside in a hurry.
I just hope our luck in not driving in the rain holds out when we start out northward to better (cooler) weather.
On another note one thing about driving the Jeep in Kansas. We were mostly in small towns on 2 lane roads the speed limit is 65. Out there the flat nose Peter-built semi’s are very popular, well they push a lot of wind, when we would meet one of them, numerous times I was afraid the hood on the Jeep would come off. Jeeps have the little stretchy latches on the hood, well these would stretch out to the safety catch. More than once I was sure the hood was going to fly right off.
