Playing Chicken
Ok, I haven’t posted much I know but we haven’t done that much interesting stuff except playing a couple of games of heart stopping chicken.
First though, we have left NM, traveled across a small corner of TX across the panhandle(?) of OK to spend 3 nights in Liberal KS, which in on the OK + KS border. It was interesting as we drove, how the landscape changed from desert and gradually more and more crops, now it’s all crops, with a few nose offending feedlots thrown in for good measure.
Not much in Liberal except Dorthy’s house from the Wizard of Oz, we didn’t go in it, they do have an acceptable free airland museum that we walked through.
Next up was 2 nights at a small city park just outside of Dodge City, sorry Marshal Dillon, wasn’t overly impressed with the town, we passed on going through the museums and took a trolly instead that was kinda interesting. They also have a really BIG one in Dodge City.
On the way here we stopped by Fort Larnred, It’s a well preserved Fort along the Santa Fe trail. It’s made from quarried sandstone and never had a wall around it. By looking at some artist drawings they think there would have been several tents and Wooden buildings for some of the soldiers and the civilians.
Now as we’re heading east with the heat and building Humidity we’re in another city park through the 4th.
I must say I really DON’T like these high 90’s with higher humidity, even though it was hotter the desert the heat was marginally easier to tolerate. However, here just like the desert, something sitting in the sun is gong to get hot. Hood of of cars, seats, RV’s……… you get the idea.
Back to playing chicken we’re here in the middle of KS the speed limit is 65 on 2 lane roads.
We’re driving down the road, I look up and think I sure am catching up with this guy pretty quick, then I realize he’s passing someone and headed straight for us. He manages to cut in just in time with the help of me hitting the breaks.
Now this last guy, I seen him coming, I kinda tried to make him think he bought the farm before I hit my brakes and swerved over into the shoulders with horn blowing and finger waving.
Last but not least, sorry about all the e-mails, someone someplace or some computer just woke up and started sending all the messages that should have been sent a long time ago
. Anyway you received a big bunch of e-mails, many were to links that I deleted because they were test, as I tried to figure out what was wrong.
I was setting here last night when my phone went crazy with all the messages:)
