AM – watch your step – PM – I found snow
6/22/2019 AM
This morning we hiked the mile long Lava Falls Trail, it was a little over 35 miles one way. Talk about interesting, it’s like walking on lava like you see in movies or a science shows only here the lava is hard. The trail makes a rough circle and is marked by Carin’s (rock piles). To keep you from getting lost. They suggest finding the next Carin before you continue walking…….. Good advice!
This area is pretty barren, there are a few small trees and other bushes scattered about but nothing of any size. I think the literature says its about 3500 years old and still very little grows on it.
There are cracks and fissures every where and they are anywhere from a foot or so deep to well we couldn’t see the bottom in a few of them. It was a pretty easy walk but we were glad we had our boots on, it’s a good area to break a leg to hide a body.
More words and pictures below.
PM
After leaving the lave fields we’re headed back towards home when the Jeep of its own free will took us up Mount Taylor. We went up to about 10,500 ft and found some snow kinda dirty, but it was still snow.
Didn’t Find Bigfoot or any other critters but we did find some spectral views. We went back in there and up and around then down for about 8 miles before turning around.
