The hunt for windshield wipers
6/19.2019 Elevation 6422 Miles driven around 60
Well we ended up moving about 60 miles to Grants NM. They have a NAPA here, but they may be wishing we had kept on rolling. The girl helping first off sure didn’t complain when the other counter guy took over. He spent about 10 minutes just looking for a windshield wiper book. we have 4 of them ordered. We’ll see what they look like tomorrow. The price was very low each, so we’re skeptical if they are what we’re looking for. I guess we’ll find out in the morning.
These are not like car windshield wipers, they are more like on big trucks, they are held on with a small nut and bolt.
The game plan is to stay here in Grants a week, but that didn’t get off to such a good start. Online I found a relative inexpensive park with a good weekly rate, it was a back in, no problem, it’s just a 30 amp site again no problem because we don’t expect to need to use any air conditioning.
Well the surge protector kept shutting down because of low voltage, once when I was watching the readout it dropped to 97 voltes. We asked to be moved to a different site. It’s a more expensive site, no use arguing with them they have you over a barrel and already charged the card for the first site and if we didn’t have a surge protector like so many others, we wouldn’t have known.. It’s not worth the hassle, we just paid for the better site and 50 amp. It’s still a little cheaper than the other parks around. The 50 AMP kicked off, probably due to low voltage when we, and probably everyone else turned on the AC.

Well, Strike one for NAPA, the ones that arrived weren’t even close. I left The old one with them this trip and they were going to either take some pictures to send to the warehouse or have the driver take it with him to see what he could come up with.
The strange thing is we had stopped in at a NAPA in a different town and the guy behind the counter knew exactly what it was without being told, they didn’t have that size in stock but said he could get one the next day, since we were just passing through we passed on having him order them. Looking back I wish I had at lease gotten the part number from him……….. Live and learn.
After some research on line I may have found a NAPA part number so it’s off to NAPA again.
The entire staff at the NAPA in Grants NM were very helpful, especially Michelle, the first girl we talked to, we ended up talking to her more than anyone else. Mary told her I was like a bad penny and she just laughed.
Well, RUBY has new windshield wipers, the part number was for plastic, they will work with no problem, they are just black instead of aluminum.
I’ll probably stop at another NAPA once we land in IN for a couple of weeks to see if they can round up a set of metal wiper blades.

Sounds like you may need to get part numbers on anything you ever order for Ruby just in case your run into anymore issues like this. Glad you finally found something to get you through. Stay safe and keep on posting!
Yes once I can fined the correct part number they will be easy to get from then on, I could have had the plastic ones from the beginning, but we/they were trying to find the metal ones.
