44 degrees
6/17/2019 Elevation 6654 Miles driven 111
As we leave AZ crossing into NM heading towards the HOT, HUMID and RAINY east we found ourselves back in Red Rock State park, just outside Gallup NM. Good sized town, large enough to have a Home Depot, Hobby Lobby and JC Pennies anong with many other stores.
We’re in search of new windshield wiper blades for RUBY, she came from the desert, where they’re not thought about and of all the spare parts she came with wiper blades were not one of them.
NAPA is about the only place to get them, you walk into one of the auto parts stores, with the old one in your hand, and all you get are blank stares.
Looking at Maps, Gallup NM was the correct distance and they had a NAPA store.
Knowing the part will probably need to be ordered, we got a spot for 2 nights, parked and ran down to the NAPA store to get the wipers on order. The store that is that was nowhere to be found. Called them thinking they moved only to find out the store had been closed for years…….. thanks a lot Maps!!
So here we are for two nights, no complaints we’re up high and it’s going to get down to 44 degrees tonight. My teeth might be chattering by morning.
The game plan is to watch the weather and make short hops while searching for another NAPA store, there is one 30 miles down the road, that’s who answered when we called, so that will probably be our next stop.
We know once we get east of the Rockies and out onto the plains we will probably be needing the windshield wipers, regularly.

We stopped here on our way to Quartzsite last year, we had hopped to take a hike this time, but by the time we got our running around and shopping done it was after noon. While the temp is only in the low 80’s there is NO shade of any kind so we just decided to hang out around here for the rest of the day. The trail is all up hill over basically solid rock so that means along with no shade anywhere blinding sun bouncing off the rock.

After figuring out the circuit breaker was turned off, that little electric heater in the bathroom sure felt good this morning after a shower.

come back here to Indiana you won’t need any wiper blades been weeks since we seen any rain, and we have some ocean front property to prove it : )
while in Nevada did you visit Grapevine Canyon in Nevada and walked to some very interesting Petroglyphs my friend was just there said it was amazing
No, didn’t we it there, have heard of it. We only crossed into Nevada to see the dam. We were looking for some place cooler, it would have taken us several days in the 90’s or above to reach cooler temps going north or west, plus need to be back in IN by the end of July.
Note to self:
When texting Rex and Mary, find out where they are first. I could be waking them up at 5:40 in the morning!
I hope you turn off phone notifications while sleeping.
We were both up and it was 6:40 here, Mountain time. No problem. We can’t really turn off phone notifications because we use alerts for weather alerts. We fond an APP that usually keeps track of where we at without being told, and sends weather alerts, kinda handy in bad heater.
