And it is “GRAND”
If a picture is worth a thousand words and 10,000 pictures ain’t enough, do you know how long this post would need to be to come close to describing Grand Canyon?…………. it’s just indescribable!!! Put it on your bucket list today!!!
I’ve seen pictures, watched some movies and videos but nothing can properly prepare you for your first glimpse of the chasm, or especially the first time you walk to the fence and look down……….. let me tell you some places it’s a LONG ways down to the bottom, and even then that’s not nearly the bottom, the Colorado River is still off in the distance and much further down.
It was pretty warm and somewhat hazy so none of the colors really popped but it was still neat to look out at the different layers of rock.
All total we walked well over 4 miles today, all paved on what they call the rim trail, 3 of that was before we we bailed on the path and started taking the free air conditioned shuttle buss. I think we hopped off at all but one of the overlooks. We were getting pretty hot and kinda foot sore by the end.
We plan to go back sometime in cooler weather and hike a trail that’s not paved.
If you go…… take plenty of water and snacks with you, otherwise, you’ll be visiting one of the vendors for food and drinks, it’s an all day affair and had it not been so blasted hot, we probably would have stayed for a few more hours. They did have free water bottle filling stations, the water was good and cold too.
