We’re on a top secret mission
We’re on a top secret mission. Your lives might be in danger even just from reading this. Our mission is taking us west so along the route we decided to make some side trips.
Boy, yesterday 5/29 was no fun, drove most of the day in light rain to toad strangling downpours. You know those love bugs we smashed on the windshield when we were in Florida? Well, after with driving through all that rain, you can still make out where they hit the windshield.
We also drove much further than intended also, made for a long day, once you hit the toll roads in Oklahoma, there is not much in the way of anything. Most of it crosses reservation land I think. Anyway NOTE to self avoid Oklahoma toll roads from now on!!!
However the long drive yesterday, will give us more time to explore, until we meet a secret agent on Monday.
Who knew!!
McLean TX has an entire museum dedicated to barbed wire. Devils Rope museum.
Still worried about being followed on our secret mission, we disguised our selves as a retired vacationing couple and checked out a little museum. But before checking it out, I drove around the building 6 times, 3 times in reverse, luckily I didn’t notice anyone that looked to be following us so we went in.
I never knew there were so many kinds of barbed wire. This ain’t know little thing either, it’s a good sized building. Not only do they have examples of wire but they had post hole diggers of every kind. And a vast assortment of sledgehammers for driving post, along with photos and other artifacts of early ranching.
Leaving the museum, just to be sure we couldn’t be followed once in the jeep I floored it smoking the tires before jumping a 2 foot beam and landing right square in the middle of the road, it was a straight shot to the expressway so I flipped on the rocket assists boosters. We hit the expressway doing 140. I was passing cars on the right trucks on the left. I’m telling you Mario Andretti and Jeff Gordon ain’t got nothing on me. I didn’t slow down for about 50 miles.
Man this secret stuff is exciting ain’t it.
