Hurricane Michael
5/20/2019 Elevation 269 Miles driven 346
With my sister doing a little better we pulled out of Brooksville FL later than normal this morning,
we had intended to only move about an hour away, but once we got on the expressway and the heat kicked in we elected to make tracks north. Not that that did any good. We went from horribly hot to extra horrible HOT and this was many miles north. It was 96 inside when we stopped……UGH!!!!!!
I miss my toboggan!!!!!
One good thing about moving further N0rth……..I think we left the #$%^%$# love bugs behind. Even if I could tolerate the heat those things are enough to keep me from living there.
So anyway, we’re cruising along I10 in the Florida Panhandle and there is mile after mile of busted blown over trees. Imagine the worst tree damage you have seen from a tornado…… Now extend that damage for miles and miles in all directions. Many road signs are blown over, the few house you could see from I10 were either damaged and vacant or new roofs. One state park is still closed as is one rest area.
Hurricane Michael was the first Category 5 hurricane to strike the contiguous United States since Andrew in 1992. In addition, it was the third-most intense Atlantic hurricane to make landfall in the contiguous United States in terms of pressure, behind the 1935 Labor Day hurricane and Hurricane Camille of 1969. It was the first Category 5 hurricane on record to impact the Florida Panhandle, and was the fourth-strongest landfalling hurricane in the contiguous United States, in terms of wind speed.

Not that I know of, but I’m sure more than one person has swallowed one. They’re HORRIBLE!!!
