The view out my window

Boy, after sitting still for 2 months was I ever already to hit the road. Even though we only moved around 45 miles it sure felt good to be back on the road. We’re now on some BLM land (Bureau of Land Management) about midway between Yuma and Quartzsite. We are going to sit here a few days and explore this area, without driving 45 miles just to get here!
I really didn’t enjoy our stay in Brenda anything like last year, between my allergies and the weather….. UGH. We didn’t spend to many days at the pool either, while the pool is heated, it’s outdoors and most cool getting out. For some reason getting out of the pool and walking across the parking lot dripping wet in 60 degrees with the wind blowing is not really all that much fun.
I felt bad enough with my allergies to take the almost 200 mile round trip to Yuma and back to fill an allergy prescription I had. It didn’t really help any. Yuma is the closest Walgreens.
The move, while relative short has us about 1/2 mile from the paved road, a gravel road runs beside us and we have jagged mountains on all 4 sides. Being far enough from the pave road we can’t really hear the traffic, and there is almost no traffic on the gravel road. There is nobody between us and the paved road and probably less than a dozen campers further back the gravel road.
This area is so deserted that, across the road from where we turned in, are the remains of a stone cabin. We can’t see it from here because of the creosote bushes but anyway on the drive it has its own milage sign that said Stone Cabin 19 Miles.
While we can see no houses, we can see the 24 hour border patrol check station just down the road. I’m still not sure how I feel about them.

This morning we backtracked a few miles with the jeep to Palm Canyon. At the end of the road you can hike up a somewhat steep, sometimes covered with loose rocks, about 1/2 mile. From there you could see some Palm trees growing on the side of a steep hill. I could sure tell that I have not been feeling all that good and walking much, the hike really zapped me.
After that we explored another “road”. The sigh said the road ended in 8.5 miles we drove almost 10 miles before we ate a quick bite of dinner and turned around.
