Clean bill of health

Mary, at her second Dr appointment, as hoped and expected, received her second clean bill of health so we cut out for the someplace south directly from her last appointment and spent the night at Tailwater Campground again.

February 21

From there we’re headed for yet another attempt to drive the Natchez Trace Parkway south, we have driven south on the northern part several times but something has always came up, where we either headed back north or jumped off because of the weather, anyway we’re on it once again, tonight we’re back in Merriweather Lewis Campground. Only time will tell how far we make it this time, the weather was perfect today the van showed 72º at one time.

One of the stops we made today was at Jackson Falls.

 

February 22

We drove 115 miles Along the way we crossed  into Alabama and later into Mississippi. 

Along the way we stopped at Rock Spring where a good-sized year round spring comes out from under some rocks.  Apparently Beavers like to build dams along the creek, we didn’t see any beavers, but we did see the remains of one of their dams. We did spot several very nervous turtles, and an animal swimming in the water while we’re not sure what it was, we don’t believe it was a beaver, possibly an otter.

 

While at Rock Springs I spotted the strangest looking bug that I think I ever have seen, the pictures aren’t the best because he was constantly on the move, he was probably a little over 1/4 inch long had he been on a tree I never would have spotted him. He looked like a mold or moss that would grow on a tree. 

From Rock Springs we crossed over the Tennessee River, back around Thanksgiving when we stopped this was all dry, today the boat dock was floating.

Then we crossed over into Mississippi and landed back at Piney Grove Campground, Where we spent 2 nights, We probably would not have stayed here but part of the parkway is closed and the detour passes near here. Also we hit 82º yesterday.
