Needs more water

I hadn’t intended to do a post today but we found a nice National Park CG on a small lake.

The day started off with us pulling out of Arbuckle RV Resort about 8:30 and drove around 295 expressway miles. This put us about 1/2 way between the OK/TX border and Amarillo TX.

With our change of plans, we have a new destination in mind and hope to get there while the weather is still moderate.

So anyway, it was time to look for a spot and this one popped up, it’s a little further from the expressway than I thought at 3 miles but worth it in both price and feel. At 5:00 as I write this we’re the only camper in the CG. The Park host is here also but we can’t see his camper from where we are.

The CG is on a “lake” Lake McCellan, but the drought is still hanging on and the lake is not much more than a mud puddle. The CH host said there are 13 dams upstream from here so not much water makes it this way.

The weather is GREAT bright sunshine, I sure hope that holds out. There are lots of down limbs close by and the CH host said it was fine to grab some and build a fire, apparently until recently there has been a burn ban.

With the exception of the trees around the lake we’re in a hilly, treeless grassland.

Ok, 3 tents and 3 campers came in around dark and later.
