It was only 250 steps
Sunday, October 9 2022 – New England where they take the express out of expressway!!!!
We started the day tracking down something called Weir Farm, it’s in Mary’s passport book, we took a chance that we would be able to find a parking spot, the write up stressed that parking was limited and large vehicles were not allowed. Anyway, when we pulled up, before the visitors center opened, there was someone directing parking, apparently today was scout day and there were expecting a lot of scouts to show up for a scavenger hunt. The few that we seen were having a good time seeking and finding things. At least while we were there parking was not an issue as only a couple of cars parked in the lot we were in.
As for me BOORING would be an understatement!! The Weirs were some kind of early 1800’s artist, I’v never heard of them of course. Anyway not much to see besides someone went to a lot of work making several rock fences. Enough said about this one. They did have several signs saying real bears have been spotted in the park.
Then, as we headed for New Jersey for the night, we drove through Delaware Water Gap, again it’s something in Mary’s book. It’s along several miles of the Delaware River which is the state border for Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
For the first stop we ventured up this little itty bitty road to a waterfall, we get there and rangers are there, and letting people in and out of the 2 small parking lots which were both FULL. We had to continue on up the road for a mile, or so to find a place to turn the van around.
Next we stopped at the visitors center, which was located s couple of miles from the main road. They had 2 waterfalls there, both within an easy walk, the furthest one was about 1/3 of a mile away on a very nice boardwalk. Of course if you wanted to see the top of the falls you had to climb around 250 steps to the top.
From there it was just a few miles to the Harvest Host, Mochain farm store where we spent the night. They had some interesting flavors of soft drinks. And before you ask no I didn’t try any.
The End
