It’s a SAD SAD day
Saturday October 1, 2022
Mary grabbed me by my ear, bashed my head up against the side of the van, while still holding my ear. She pulls my head down to her level and menacingly whispers in my ear, listen here Bub, its time to head back towards Indiana. Three cracked ribs and a busted nose, I finally relented. I don’t call her Mean Mary for nothing.
Ok, maybe it wasn’t exactly like that, but she did stress it was time to hit the road. Sadly I was forced to agree with her.
Sunday, October 2 SAY WHAT!!! it’s going to be 30 degrees in the morning!!! BURRRRRRRRRRR
On the way to the CG we made a couple of stops, one was at Albany Covered Bridge, where we spotted a total of 3 tour busses, yes, we should have delayed an extra day, all the parking lots were FULL, we took one walk around a small lake and when we got back to the van the parking lot was overflowing.
We were going to walk to another waterfall, down the road a little ways, but no place too park.
More below, actually just keep scrolling, you might eventually reach the end.
Monday, October 3 sadly we left the White Mountain NF today.
I didn’t see any frost at the CG, the last NF CG on our route, but in the small town of Lincoln NH, where we found some cell service, I noticed a few cars with frost on them and a sign noting the temperature as 32 degrees at 9:00 AM.
Apparently the river behind the CG is a VERY popular summer spot with the river full of people enjoying the cool mountain water, and a local we met said that the pool is deep enough to dive head first in.
After a quick stop at Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller Historic Site in the extra crowded town of Woodstock VT. It was a Monday and there were people EVERy where. We didn’t get to tour the Mansion, they were sold out, not only that but it’s such a busy place you needed to make reservations online. That’s becoming more of a thing anymore.
We’re spending the night at the bottom of a ski lift. We’re at Killington Ski Resort it’s on Vermont’s second highness peak. As we were pulling in Mary noticed a sign about Gondola rides. So of course we went up. The gondola windows were tinted and all scratched up so the pics from inside didn’t turn out the best.
This spot is open year around, I think, it’s very popular with mountain bikers. Take a lift to the top, with your bike and ride your bike down. Then repeat again and again. They also had a regular ski lift running just for bikers. I’m not sure how many ski lifts they have on the mountain, I think I counted at least six.
The End
