Maine Again

September 18 & 19 2022

Back in NH we sat through some rain never heavy but it rained a LOT over 2 days, originally it looked like it was going to rain for 3 days but they took the rain out for the 3rd day so we headed back to Maine, guess what most of the drive was through a fine mist. Sure glad we didn’t find a car wash and wash the van like I was thinking about.

So, on Wednesday, September 21, we started our day with a tour of Fort Edgecomb Historic Site. This is an early Colonial Fort and we expected it to be open, but it wasn’t and a local said that it hadn’t been unlocked all summer. This is one that I looked forward to seeing the inside of.

Then we made a stop at Pemaquid Point lighthouse, it was pretty busy there, more of a tourist destination than I prefer but it was ok.

Then we did a quick stop at Pemaquid Beach, pretty white sand that really sparkled in what little sunlight there was that day.

Our last stop of the day was Fort William Henry Historic Site.  The round part was rebuilt in the early 1900’s and of course everything was locked up.  We were just short of being there when it was open by a few days.  They close it up after Labor Day.
