To climb a Mountain

Who’s brilliant idea was this? Well, ok I might have mentioned it, but if Mary hadn’t pointed out the trailhead was like 200 feet from our camping spot, I wouldn’t have known it was there.

September 9 to September 12

After giving up on the waterfalls idea we started looking for a place to stay, last week we scoped out some designated spots along a couple of fire roads, we thought there would be at least a couple spots open since it is after Labor Day and Friday noonish. No luck finding a spot they were all occupied.

We get to the end of this one road and there are these people camping a non designated camping spot taking up the entire turnaround area, I was not impressed as they hurried to moved things enough so I could get the van turned around, I know that we were not the first vehicle to turnaround there because we met a car coming out as we were going in.

Well, anyway all the spots were taken, we pulled out on the main road and a local suspected we were looking for a place to camp, it was lunchtime so we pulled into a nearby picnic place and she followed us in and told us about a couple of more roads with free spots on them, that’s how we arrived at Cherry Mountain.

There were only 2 spots open along this road  the one we chose was next a trailhead to the top of the Cherry Mountain, 3.7 miles………… we’ll see.

Both of us were tooooooo stubborn to give up and turnaround, we both have the blisters to prove it, it was a good day overall at 8 miles round trip, which was about 3 miles more than we really should have hiked.

Did bigfoot sleep here?

Actually it was probably an invisible moose, since we haven’t seen any.

Almost home and Mary tried to play kickball with a large rock and she’s now supporting a bruised big toe. Nope no picture.
