Back in Indiana

This is only a little late:)

July 2022

For most of the trip it had been tooooooooooooo HOT so I wasn’t really motivated to write much.

We left Back River Campground and taking mostly small 2 lane roads we ended up in ONTONGON MI where we spent 2 days. The game plan was to arrive early in the day and grab a first come first serve at the small county park right on Lake Superior, Unfortunately the sign said campground full so we went to the backup park, River Bend where we typically stay at. Surprise, they only had 1 site open. Apparently there was a big family reunion going on and of course we just happened to hit Copper Fest, their yearly festival, which we didn’t go to, I played LAZY BUM and just sat and read most of the weekend.

From there we took our time and drove up to Copper Harbor for 1 night. At the State Park they only had 1 site open and it was for just 1 night.

Along the way we made a stop at Calumet Heritage Area Visitors Center, it was the only thing open, all the other buildings were closed, it was housed in the old Masonic building, it was a very interesting building with who knows how high ceilings were.

How much snow is enough?

Of course it turned COLD and started raining about an hour after we got there. Don’t tell anyone but I may have “accidentally” bumped the heater on for a few minutes the next morning. Here I am a few days later really missing the cool as we are returning to HADES HOT—– UCK!!!!!

So, anyway, we continued out trek around Lake Superior stopping at various pull offs.

The town of Wetmore Michigan had I really nice boardwalk around a small very shallow lake.

After a detour through a wide spot in the road, I was really disappointed in it’s size given it’s fabulous name.

Then with a few more stops we are back in So. Indiana for a week or so for Mary to have a followup test and Dr. appointment. With Luck we will be able to start a new adventure on or around August 9th.
