Shenandoah National Park
June 6
Overall we didn’t do a lot in the park.
Today, we did one hike listed as easy and just a little over 1.5 miles. While it wasn’t hard it was all up hill to the overlook lets just say we were happy that the walk back was all down hill:)
At the campground we stayed in I felt sorry for all the people staying in tents, it was mostly people in tents. While there were enough trees for most of the sites to have at least a little shade at some point during the day the grass had not been cut, it was thick and knee high looking more like a hay field than a campground. The campers had to not only set up in the tall grass but had to wade through it to get to and from their vehicles.

We started on another easy hike today but turned around at around a mile in as the sky darkened up and looked like we might get the expected rain.
The next day we didn’t make it to many stops, it had rained in the night and the wind was blowing, we didn’t think it would be to safe to walk in the woods with the trees whipping around.
We would like to do this drive again in the fall when the leaves are changing.
We considered staying longer inside the park but none of the campgrounds had electricity and we needed to drive to recharge the battery.
Also of note was the difference from north to south as far a maintenance. Along the southern end the grass had not been cut and more than 2 overlooks were so grown up that you couldn’t see the view.
The end

MOST of the trees look better then when we went though the park, I still seen some that hadn’t recovered
