And a new adventure begins
On the road again after sitting still for way toooooooo long!
JUNE 2 & 3
Mary got rid of her catheter and staples on Wednesday, on Thursday, Mary was feeling fine so we hit the road for parts unknown. We spent 2 nights Twin Knobs Campground on Cave Run Lake in KY.
After breakfast on Friday we went for a hike that should have been a little over 2 miles BUT right at the 1/2 mile mark there was a very large tree across the path with no way around it. The tree was much larger than it looks in the picture. Mary didn’t think she could scramble over it with her recent surgery so we came back home where I completed a couple of projects that I had been putting off.

New territory, for us since we retired anyway. We’re in West Virginia on Lake Burnsville, Mountains all around. It’s been up one hill and down the other side. Not overly impressed with the first come campground, you can tell it’s heavily used and it sounds like lots of campers know each other. The 2 lane road is very skinny and the road in the CG is even skinnier.
Sunday, June 5, 2022, we arrived at our destination, Skyline Drive. We’re back in Floyds Knobs? No silly, we’re in Virginia. The drive across West Virginia was up one mountains and down the other side
We’re now in Shenandoah National Park which is more or less Skyline Drive with lots of overlooks and hiking trails as it makes it’s way down the backbone of the Appalachian Mountains.
Anyway, the park is around 105 miles long, we’re driving north or south, then connects to the Blue Ridge Parkway, 469 miles long, which we plan to take into Cherokee NC. From there who knows.
One complaint about the van is the reflection in the windshield, besides showing up in the pictures, sometimes when the sun is just right it makes it hard to see out of or it’s distracting.
