As I’v mentioned we’ve been stuck in So. Indiana for Dr visits and such but we did manage to get away a couple of times for short trips.

A few random pics 

On our way back from the frozen north we explored the town of Metamora IN, it was earlier in the day and very cool. The small wide spot in the road is about 40 miles southwest of Richmond IN or about 120 miles northeast from New Albany IN.

The town sits on what was once the White Water Canal. The state has kinda restored about a 15 mile stretch along with converting most of the tow path to a walking bike trail.

The Whitewater Canal, which was built between 1836 (186 years ago) and 1847 (175 years ago), spanned a distance of 76 miles (122 km) and stretched from Lawrenceburg, Indiana on the Ohio River to Hagerstown, Indiana near the West Fork of the White River.

It also had an off shoot over to Cincinnati OH.

So anyway, the reason I wanted to stop there was to check out the only known wooden Aqueduct, it’s where the canal passes over Duck Creek.

Very interesting little town and well worth the trip, only do it in warmer weather when things are open.

Off and on we have stayed at Deam Lake State Park for a night or 2 at a time and we made it to O’bannon Woods State Park for 1 night where we climbed the fire tower on a very windy day.
