North — to South Dakota
2/27/2022 to 3/1/2022
From Fort Smith and Pea Ridge we turned north towards South Dakota. March 1, was a LONG drive day of almost 500 miles but the further north you go the harder it is to find campgrounds open, it also put us with in easy reach of Sioux Falls. Originally I thought we would need to drive across the state to Rapid City but thankfully Sioux Falls is all the further we need to go.

New Drivers License in hand we left Sioux Falls for Pipestone National Monument, it’s in Mary’s book. The natives quarried the stone for pipes from the area for something like 4000 years. While interesting it was VERY COLD and windy.
Unfortunately we will need to return to South Dakota sometime between July and December so Mary can get her new license, she couldn’t renew hers because they can only renew then 6 months in advance.
From there we turned south and went looking for the worlds largest popcorn ball, it’s located in Iowa in the town of Sac City IA which is also where we spent the night, they had the water and electricity turned off but that was ok.
The End
