Steps steps and MORE STEPS

We woke up to cloudy skies but not raining, they lessoned the chance of rain for today so we decided for our first stop, we should drive to Lookout Mountain Tennessee, which is about 15 miles away. Within a mile or 2 of leaving the campground the fog set in so thick it was hard to even read the road signs.
Entering the town of Lookout Mountain was made even more interesting with skinny roads and roadside parking, that really kept me on my toes. We considered taking the cog train to the top but with it being so foggy we passed on that idea.
Next stop was Point park where I think the Confederate army held the high ground with cannons. To be honest it was so foggy we could have been standing on a flat field. I didn’t read most of the signs and just walked around.
Then we did a drive by of Ruby Falls, again, we decided to pass this tourist trap, partly because of the fog and partly because I felt the $22 each was a might high.
Just as we were out of town on the way back to the campground it looked like the fog was lifting. We could only book 2 nights here at Cloudland Canyon State park, giving us only 1 day to explore so we didn’t turn around on the chance that the fog might lift all together.
More below
Back in Cloudland we had walked about an easy mile checking out the overlooks, not foggy here just cloudy. Then we decided to check out the water falls, they are in the bottom of the canyon.
What we read said it was a strenuous hike of 1.8 miles with 600 metal steps. Now that was 600 steps going down then we had to walk back up those 600 steps. I’m pretty sure the 600 steps were just metal ones they didn’t list all the stone steps, plus the trail was full of rocks and roots, and on this day of course the ground was moist but only 1 place had standing water and one other spot was a little muddy. When walking next to the rock cliff you had water dropping on you.
According the app thingies we went up then down 33 flights of steps, all I know is it was sure a workout, and was one of the top 2 most strenuous things we have done since retiring.
One other note of interest, acorns bouncing off the roof of the motorhome sure make a racket and can make you jump.

Yesterday, I had more typed here but I must have been more tired than I realized, even after giving the back of my eyelids a through inspection, somehow I deleted what I had typed and couldn’t recover it.
