Pitchforks – you know what they’re used for
July 1 2021
I hope this one was cleaned good first——
Last night we treated ourselves to supper. It was a unique outdoor dining experience. We arrived around 5:15 with a perfect 72 degrees temperature and blue skies, we chose to sit in the shade of an awning. Mountains all around us in the distance, we could watch kids on horses riding around the fair grounds arena.
They were a little understaffed last night so it was a mix of help yourself to the staff bringing things to you.
The meat was skewered on pitchforks and cooked to perfection, along with just about everything else, were deep-fried in big vats of oil over a wood fire, I’m sure everything was fat and cholesterol free………..NOT
First up were the deep fried potato chips, I could have made my meal on the chips alone, then we had salad, which like the chips was pretty much all you could eat, then brought some kind of deep fried roll and slivers of a brats, followed up with the meat. I had steak, Mary had chicken, we each had 1/2 of a deep fried “baked” potato. We were both glad we only had the 1/2 tater a whole one would have been tooooo much, the taters were delicious!!! For desert Mary had a brownie and I had a Lemon bar. I was miserably stuffed by the time we left. We were there around 2 hours nothing was hurried obviously. If you wanted something other than water, Lemonade or Tea it was bring your own BYOB.
I expected more people like us, passing through and had to try it because of the name, vs locals, but I think Mary and I and one other couple may have been the only non locals there. They are only open Thursday, Friday and Saturdays through the summer.
It was one of the more expensive meals we have had but the food was good and the setting great, we did have our jackets along just in case it turned cool or windy, the temperature really drops around here once the sun goes down. It’s been getting into the low 40’s or lower at nights.
The End
